    Abstract:

    AIM: To analyze the factors of corneal edema after small incision operationfor cataract, the treatment and prevention.

    METHODS: The factors of 56 cases(56 eyes)with corneal edema after small incision operation for cataract were analyzed.

    RESULTS: There were 13 cases of age between 70 and 80 years above among the 56 cases with corneal edema. Nuclear hardness of 29 eyes was between 3 and 4 grades. Eleven cases combined with other ocular complications or systemic complications. Three cases were with diabetes.

    CONCLUSION: The occurrence of corneal edema after small incision operation for cataract is related with age, hardness of the nuclear, ocular complications or general condition.
