    Abstract:

AIM:To study the levels of serum stromal cell-derived factor-1β(SDF-1β) and leptin in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).METHODS:Twenty-eight cases with T2DM were divided into two groups, diabetic retinopathy (DR, 14 cases), and no diabetic retinopathy (NDR, 14 cases). A total of 14 healthy subjects were enrolled as normal control group(NC). The levels of serum SDF-1β and leptin were measured by Enzyme-linked Immune sorbent Assay(ELISA). RESULTS:The levels of serum SDF-1β and leptin were decreased by degrees from NC to NDR, DR groups. Compared with NC group, level of SDF-1β was lower (P=0.011). There was positive correlation between the level of SDF-1β and leptin (r=0.524, P<0.001).CONCLUSION:The levels of serum SDF-1β in T2DM patients with DR are decreased and they likely contribute to diabetic complications such as diabetic retinopathy by passing into peripheral organization. Further studye is necessary to the role of Leptin.
