Clinical analysis of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation for cataract with high myopia

    Abstract:

    AIM:To investigate the effect of phacoemulsification and intraocular lens ( IOL) implantation in treatment of high myopia.METHODS:Phacoemulsification and IOL implantation was performed in 45 cases (52 eyes) with high myopia cataract.RESULTS:The postoperative visual acuity of 43 eyes(83%) improved differently, the visual acuities were>0.4 in 12 eyes(23% ),0.1-0.4 in 33 eyes (63% ),<0.1 in 7 eyes (13% ). The visual acuities have no change in 9 eyes (17% ).CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification and IOL implantation is a safe and effective method for treating high myopia and correcting refractive error.
