    Abstract:

Müller cells are the specialized glial cell of the retina. They span the entire thickness of the retina, have a close contact with retinal neurons, other glial cells and retinal blood vessels.Müller cells play a decisive role in the normal development of the retina, and can support neuronal activity, regulate neurotransmitter cycle, maintain homeostasis of the extracellular environment, regulate retinal vascular permeability.Dysmetabolism in retinal Müller cells will result in loss of visual function, neuronal cell death, retinal edema,et al.Therefore,Müller cells play an important role in retinal physiology. This paper reviewed recent Müller cells research.
