    Abstract:

AIM:To evaluate the effects of hyaluronic acid sodium eye drops combined with recombined human epidermal growth factor(rhEGF) eye drops on dry eye after extracapsular cataract extraction METHODS:All 42 cases(60 eyes) with dry eye symptom after the excision of extracapsular cataract were chosen and randomly divided into two groups, the treatment group and control group. In the treatment group, the patients were treated by hyaluronic acid sodium eye drops and rhEGF eye drops. In the control group, the patients were treated by hyaluronic acid sodium eye drops. The subjective dry eye symptoms, fluorescein staining(FL),the time of tear secretion(SchirmerⅠtest,SⅠt) and tear break-up time(BUT) were observed by the slit lamp before treatment, the second and the fourth week after treatment.RESULTS:There was no statistical difference between groups before treatment(P>0.05).After treatment, the subjective dry eye symptoms,FL,S Ⅰt and BUT were significantly different(P<0.01).CONCLUSION:Hyaluronic acid sodium eye drops combined with rhEGF eye drops can be effective to relieve the dry eye symptoms after extracapsular cataract excision.
