Abstract:AIM:To observe the clinical curative effect of vitrectomy combined removal of intraocular foreign body(the diameter of foreign body ≤3mm).METHODS:From January 2006 to January 2010,25 patients(25 eyes) with ocular injury in our hospital underwent vitrectomy combined removal of intraocular foreign body.Thirteen patients(13 eyes) preserved part or all anterior lens capsule.In the follow-up of 6 months,implanting or suturing artifical lens was carried out in 18 cases(18 eyes).The surgical indications,related complications and clinical curative effect were summarized.RESULTS:Intraocular foreign bodys were dislodged successfully in 25 cases(25 eyes).One case with ablatio corporis ciliaris recovered by drug treatment.Vitrectomy and silicone oil filling were performed in the cases with retinal detachment.In the follow-up of 6 months,the corrected visual acuity increased in 23 cases and remained unchanged in 2 cases.CONCLUSION:Vitrectomy combined removal of intraocular foreign body is an effective method in definited ocular trauma patients(the diameter of foreign body ≤3mm).
