·AIM:To discuss and analyze the operative results,skills and postoperative complications of 1520 eyes in the poverty alleviation action in Qiqihaer area of Heilongjiang province.·METHODS:The effect and complication of the cataract surgeries on 1520 cases were analyzed.The cataract surgeries were free to the poverty patients and finished by the doctors of the First Hospital of Qiqihaer.·RESULTS:Of the 1520 eyes 913 eyes(60.07%)improved their visions above 0.5 one week after the surgeries;1219 eyes(80.20%)improved their visions above 0.5 one month after the surgeries;815 eyes(53.62%)improved their visions above 0.8 after the surgeries;52 eyes’(3.42%)visions were below 0.25 after the surgeries.The complications:121 eyes(7.96%)were complicated with posterior-capsule rupture;58 eyes(3.82%)were complicated with iris damage ;1 eye(0.07%)was complicated with fulminating choroidal hemorrhage;15 eyes(0.99%)were complicated with hyphema;230 eyes(15.13%)were complicated with corneal edema;58 eyes(3.82%)were complicated with temporary intraocular hypertension ;2 eyes(0.13%)were complicated with tardive endophthalmitis.·CONCLUSION:The"Cataract Extraction Project"implemented in Qiqihaer area obtained the prospective objectives and satisfying effects.Phacoemulsification combined with implantation of IOL is also suitable for"Cataract Extraction Project" in the poverty area.·
