    Abstract:

·AIM:To discuss the clinical curative effects of artificial tears and Recombinant human epidermal growth factor(rhEGF)on dry eye after extracapsular cataract extraction.·METHODS:All 62 cases 62 eyes with dry eye smptom after the excision of extracapsular cataract were chosen and randomly divided into two groups, the treatment group and control group. In the treatment group, the patients were treated by artificial tears and rhEGF eyedrops. In the control group, the patients were treated by artificial tears. The subjective dry eye symptoms, fluorescein staining(FL),the time of tear secretion(Schirmers Ⅰ test)and tear break-up time(BUT)were observed by the slit lamp before treatment, the second and the fourth week after treatment.·RESULTS:There was no statistical difference between the groups before treatment(P>0.05).After tratment, the subjective dry eye symptoms,FL,Schirmers Ⅰ test and BUT were significantly different(P<0.01).·CONCLUSION:Artificial tears combined with rhEGF eyedrops can be effective to relieve the dry eye symptoms after extracapsular cataract excision.·
