    Abstract:

Historically, most vitreoretinal surgeons have considered the single operation anatomical reattachment rate of the retina following rhegmatogenous retinal detachment(RRD)repair as the primary outcome measure.Nevertheless, even with successful anatomical retinal reattachment, many patients still experience visual function defects such as metamorphopsia and aniseikonia.Retinal displacement is one of the primary contributing factors.Accumulating evidence suggests that postoperative visual function and vision related quality of life are of greater clinical importance to patients.PubMed and Web of Science database were searched for studies published before November 2025 on “retinal displacement”and“rhegmatogenous retinal detachment”.This paper systematically reviews the research advances in retinal displacement after RRD repair, as well as its detection modalities, pathogenesis, risk factors, and functional prognosis.
