Pterygium is a common ophthalmic disease. Its clinical manifestations include growth of conjunctiva organizations invading into central corneal. Dysplasia of the bulbar conjunctiva obscured pupil would severely affect visual acuity, visual impairment and cause cosmetic defects to the patient. Surgery is the primary treatment but its recurrence rate is high. In recently years, many scholars made a lot of research and obtained newer research progress in the pathogenesis and treatment of pterygium.
