AIM:To study effects of calcium dobesilate and laser therapy on diabetic macular edema.METHODS:Sixty diabetic retinopathy(DR)patients were divided into two groups.Patients in one group were treated by laser photocoagulation and orally taking calcium dobesilate capsules,while those in the other group were treated only by laser photocoagulation.DR patients’ eyesight,macular thickness and reactive density of mfERG in two groups after treatment of one to three months were detected.RESULTS:The effective rate of improving patients eyesight was 73% in the united treatment group,while it was 57% in the group treated singly.The united treatment group can reduce the macular thickness obviously than the group treated singly.The united treatment group can rise the rective density obviously than the group treated singly.CONCLUSION:Two groups treatment can lighten diabetic macular edema in various degree.The united treatment group is superior to the group treated singly.
